Packers' Peppers intends to play 2016 season

After taking some time to weigh his options, Julius Peppers appears set to extend his Hall of Fame career for at least one more season.

The Green Bay Packers pass-rusher, who previously admitted he was unsure of his status for the 2016 campaign, told Dave Birkett of the Detroit Free Press that he plans to play next season and possibly beyond.

"I'm just saying that I'm 36, so, in the next four years, somewhere in there, I should be done," Peppers said.

Peppers was the rare veteran Green Bay opted to pursue on the free-agent market back in 2014, and the addition has since paid off in a big way.

The 36-year-old hasn't missed a game over his two years with the Packers, recording 17.5 sacks, two interceptions, and two defensive touchdowns.

Still under contract through the 2016 season and at least tentatively scheduled to account for $10.5 million against the salary cap, Peppers should continue to have a lead role on Green Bay's defense.
