Cameron Wake (Achilles) and the Dolphins are far apart on a new contract, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Wake (Achilles) and the Dolphins are thought be far apart on a potential contract extension, Armando Salguero of the Miami Herald reports.

Analysis:

Wake, who is coming off an Achilles injury that limited him to seven games in 2015, is slated to earn a base salary of $8.275 million this coming season and count $9.8 million against the Dolphins' 2016 salary cap. Initial discussions to potentially re-work the 34-year-old's deal, or extend it, have reportedly not gone well, which could cloud the pass-rusher's future with the Dolphins.
