As the Denver Broncos look to retain several key players ahead of free agency, the team is already evaluating ways in which it can free up the necessary salary cap space.

The Broncos opened discussions for possible pay reductions or contract restructures with the agent for both pass-rusher DeMarcus Ware and left tackle Ryan Clady, according to Mike Klis of 9News.

Clady had previously stated that he'd be willing to restructure his contract to secure his future with the Broncos, but it's unclear whether Ware would be open to a similar situation.

Clady missed the entire 2015 season after suffering a torn ACL during OTAs. He'd almost certainly return to his long-standing role as the starting left tackle if the two sides can find a way to lower his $10.1-million cap number.

Ware is coming off his second season with the Broncos after joining the club as a free agent in 2014. Though injuries forced him to miss five regular-season games, he played a key role on defense throughout the Super Bowl run that followed.
