There will be $1 million on the line this year if a prospect breaks the 40-yard dash record of 4.24, a mark set eight years ago by Chris Johnson.

The Arizona Cardinals running back told SiriusXM NFL Radio on Tuesday that he was "aiming to run a 4.25," and was happy when he did, "but I didn't know that it would be to this extent or that it would be a record this long, going ... on eight years."

As surprised as he is that the record has lasted as long as it has, Johnson would also like to see it stand a little longer.

"To be honest, I don't want to see the record go. But if somebody does break it ... I'll be happy for them and give them a handshake and congratulate them," he said. "They'll be more proud of getting the million dollars than getting a hand shake, you know it is what is."

Adidas has offered a $1-million prize to the player that breaks the record at this year's NFL Scouting Combine, but they must do so while wearing the company's 2016 adizero 5-Star 40 cleats.

When asked for any advice on what it will take to run a 4.24, Johnson kept it short and sweet: "Run fast."
