If the Baltimore Ravens are to have any sort of financial flexibility this offseason, lowering Joe Flacco's $28.55-million salary cap hit is a must.

Flacco's agent, Joe Linta, recently told Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk that he expects to meet with the Ravens regarding that issue at the NFL Scouting Combine this weekend.

Though restructured contracts often involve little more than converting base salary to signing bonus, and spreading that difference in cap hit over the remainder of the deal, Flacco's situation may be more complex.

According to Florio, such an adjustment to Flacco's $18-million base salary would see his 2017 cap number approach an astronomical $36.5 million.

Either way, the two sides will almost certainly reach some sort of agreement in the coming weeks. Flacco conceded in January that something may need to be done about his deal, indicating he was willing to restructure it to help the team.

"Come on, I want to win, so I want to do everything we can to get something done," Flacco said, according to Jamison Hensley of ESPN. "I don't know exactly what that is or exactly what that's going to be because we haven't talked about it yet. But I know that that's a huge number and it's not really realistic."

Kelechi Osemele, Justin Tucker, and Courtney Upshaw are among several impending free agents Baltimore could use some additional cap space to re-sign before the new league year officially begins March 9.
