Lions sign Lamar Holmes

Jim Brown / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions signed free-agent offensive tackle Lamar Holmes on Friday, the team announced.

Holmes spent the first four years of his career with the Atlanta Falcons. His most extensive action came in 2013 when he started 15 of the club's 16 regular-season games.

He appeared in just four games the next season, however, and missed the entire 2015 campaign due to injury.

The 26-year-old should enter training camp with an opportunity to earn a reserve role and, depending on the Lions' offseason additions, potentially compete for a starting job on the right side.
