Report: NFL upholds Vontaze Burfict's 3-game suspension after appeal
Vontaze Burfict's three-game suspension has been upheld by NFL appeals officer Derrick Brooks, according to Dan Graziano of ESPN.
The Cincinnati Bengals linebacker was handed the multi-week ban after a violent hit to the head of Antonio Brown in a wild-card game against the Pittsburgh Steelers.
Burfict's hit left Brown with a concussion, forcing him to the sidelines for the divisional-round game against the Denver Broncos the following week.
A repeat offender when it comes to such on-field behavior, Burfict is reportedly set to meet with commissioner Roger Goodell at some point within the next week.
Burfict was issued more than $69,000 in fines for his multiple infractions in a Week 14 matchup with the Steelers, as well as a $50,000 penalty for a hit on Baltimore Ravens tight end Maxx Williams in Week 17.
He'll almost certainly be eligible to participate in the Bengals' preseason games this summer before serving his three-game ban once the regular season gets underway in September.
