Seahawks' Michael Bennett takes shot at Cam Newton

After failing to jump on a loose ball and later walking out of his postgame press conference, Cam Newton has been the target of endless criticism since the Carolina Panthers came up short in Super Bowl 50.

Seattle Seahawks defensive end Michael Bennett was the latest to poke fun at the star quarterback while accepting an award at the 2016 MTR Western Sports Star of the Year Awards on Wednesday.

"I hope you guys aren't sore losers like Cam Newton," Bennett said to the other finalists for Male Sports Star of the Year, according to Adam Lewis of SeattlePi.com.

Bennett's comments were almost certainly in jest, but there likely won't be any love lost between the Panthers and Seahawks when the two sides go head-to-head in 2016.

Seahawks defensive end Frank Clark tweeted a video of Newton's controversial fumble play during the game, with a voice presumed to be his saying, "That boy a bitch. Can't wait to play his punk ass."

Linebacker Bruce Irvin expressed confidence that his quarterback, Russell Wilson, wouldn't have made the same decision.
