5 soon-to-be forgotten moments from Super Bowl 50

In the wake of a Super Bowl that may have sewn up the brilliant career of arguably the NFL's greatest quarterback and launched a defense that is being mentioned in the same breath as the 1985 Bears and 2000 Ravens, several moments have been lost in the shuffle.

Here are five memorable moments that many will soon forget:

Peyton Manning's quiet night

Manning will likely finish his career with two Super Bowl rings, a milestone only 11 others have reached in the modern era, but his Super Bowl 50 performance was lackluster.

In addition to his modest 13-reception night, Manning turned the ball over twice, throwing an interception and losing a fumble. He fumbled three times during the game and threw no touchdowns. But Manning got the job done and that's all that will count when he goes into the Hall of Fame.

Aqib Talib's 3-penalty first half

Before Aqib Talib slipped while celebrating his first Super Bowl ring, he cost his team with multiple first-half penalties that looked like they would come back to haunt him and his Bronco teammates.

It wasn't that long ago that Talib led a Broncos meltdown loss to the Indianapolis Colts in Week 9 and was suspended for an eye gouge on Dwayne Allen.

However, Talib's personal fouls did nothing to slow down the league's best defense on Sunday.

Kony Ealy's MVP performance

Ealy was absolutely outstanding for the Panthers on Sunday, tallying three sacks (including a sack fumble), an interception and some nifty moves after the catch.

All of his stat stuffing came on an absurd 23 of a possible 60 defensive snaps.

The second-year pro would've been in contention for Super Bowl MVP had the Panthers completed a comeback.

Philly Brown's catch

This play threatened to turn the tide in a game that lacked any offensive flow. Cam Newton, appearing impatient with his team's lack of big plays, threw it up to Philly Brown for a gorgeous 42-yard reception midway through the game's third quarter.

Unfortunately, Brown was unable to play another down due to suffering a concussion on the play.

Ron Rivera's bone-headed challenges

Rivera used both of his challenges in the first half of Sunday's game, something that had no impact on the outcome but was head-scratching at the time.

Despite winning his second challenge on a relatively meaningless overturned sack call in the first half, Rivera was unable to attain a third challenge because of a questionable call on a Jerricho Cotchery incomplete pass.
