Lions part ways with longtime personnel director Sheldon White

The Detroit Lions' front-office overhaul continues, as the team has parted ways with longtime director of pro personnel Sheldon White.

The move comes nearly a month after the Lions' hiring of former New England Patriots director of pro scouting Bob Quinn as their new general manager and executive vice president.

White, who played for the Lions from 1990-92, rejoined the organization in 1997 as a scout - a role he held until 2000, when he was promoted to director of pro personnel. He most recently served as interim general manager after Martin Mayhew was fired in November.

"I want to thank the Ford family for allowing me to work with the Detroit Lions for 19 years," White said in a statement released Thursday. "My children are true Michiganders. I also want to personally thank Mrs. Ford for giving me the opportunity to be the interim general manager for the last half of the 2015 season. Hopefully we will carry the momentum from our 6-2 finish into the 2016 season. GO LIONS!"
