The Houston Texans and Oakland Raiders could be heading south of the border next season.

The two teams, which last faced each other in Oakland in 2014, are expected to play a regular-season game in Mexico City, according to John McClain of the Houston Chronicle.

Mexico City has long been rumored as a potential expansion destination for the NFL International Series, and the Texans have expressed interest in being involved due to the team's growing fan base in Mexico.

President Jamey Rootes was part of a group of Houston business and political leaders that visited Mexico City during the 2015 season.

"We've always expressed that we have an interest in participating internationally as a road team, (and) we've made it clear that we were most interested in doing that in Mexico," Rootes said after the visit. "It's an amazing opportunity for teams and the league.

"Mexico City is a logical choice for a team like the Texans. We'd be a great ambassador for the league."
