Eagles agree to 5-year deal with defensive end Vinny Curry

PHILADELPHIA (AP) Defensive end Vinny Curry and the Philadelphia Eagles have agreed on a five-year contract.

Curry was a second-round pick in 2012 and has 16 1/2 sacks in four seasons. He's expected to start for the first time in his career now that Jim Schwartz is the new defensive coordinator and the Eagles are switching back to a 4-3 defense.

Curry had a career-high nine sacks in 2014.

The Eagles have been busy re-signing their own players since finishing a 7-9 season and hiring Doug Pederson to replace Chip Kelly as coach. Tight ends Zach Ertz and Brent Celek and right tackle Lane Johnson also got new contracts.
