Cam Newton emphasized once again that he wants to be viewed as a quarterback first, irrespective of race, during his press conference Tuesday.

Newton, widely expected to capture NFL MVP honors ahead of Super Bowl 50, took center stage once again during his press conference Tuesday.

The Carolina Panthers quarterback's sublime play is equally part of the national discussion as his dance moves and demeanor, and some view Newton as a litmus test for racial relations in America.

Newton made it clear that he's discussed his feelings about being a proud African-American in detail already.

"I don't want to touch on the topic of black quarterbacks. There are bigger things in this sport," Newton said during his press conference Tuesday.

Last week, Newton addressed being an African-American quarterback at length.

"I'm an African-American QB that might scare some people because my skill set isn't like anybody else," Newton told reporters Wednesday.

Addressing a polarizing, divisive racial climate in the United States is an issue that Newton's been asked to speak on during numerous occasions throughout his sublime 2015 season. At this point, it appears clear that Newton is focused solely on capturing the first Super Bowl victory in Panthers history.
