Cardinals re-sign tight end Darren Fells

TEMPE, Ariz. (AP) The Arizona Cardinals have re-signed Darren Fells to a one-year contract.

The 6-foot-7, 281-pound tight end appeared in 14 games last season, 12 as a starter. He had career highs of 21 receptions for 311 yards and three touchdowns.

Fells played basketball in Argentina, Mexico, Belgium, Finland and France before signing with the Seattle Seahawks in March 2013. He was released by the Seahawks that August and was signed to the Cardinals' practice squad in October 2013.

He spent his rookie season on the Arizona practice squad before moving to the active roster in 2014, when he appeared in 10 games in five starts.

In addition, the Cardinals signed cornerback Shaun Prater to a future contract for the 2016 season.
