Manning warns Pro Bowl captain Beckham: 'Draft me' or else
New York Giants quarterback Eli Manning sent a friendly warning to his wide receiver Odell Beckham Jr. ahead of Wednesday's Pro Bowl draft.
Beckham is one of the captains for Jerry Rice's Pro Bowl team, and Manning advised his teammate to call his name, or he'd hit him right where it hurts.
"I said, 'Odell, hey, I know you’re captain, don't feel any pressure to draft me,'' Manning joked Wednesday, according to Michael Eisen of the Giants' official site. "'But if you don’t draft me, don’t expect to catch any balls next year. No pressure at all.' I left it at that, and I think he’ll make an educated decision at the draft."
Beckham has had a record-breaking start to his career, racking up the most yards by any wide receiver in their first two seasons in the league (2,755).
However, if he wants to keep up his assault on the NFL record books, he probably should follow one simple mantra: Do whatever your quarterback says.
