Minnesota Vikings running back Adrian Peterson missed practice on Wednesday as he continues to work through a lower back injury.

The day off is likely for rest purposes, with Peterson adamant that he will play on Sunday when the Vikings host the Seattle Seahawks.

Peterson hurt his back during a Week 17 win over the Green Bay Packers, when he was forced to leave the game before returning to take carries.

With temperatures set to be extremely low on Sunday, the Vikings will need Peterson fully healthy as they will likely try to run the ball ad nauseam on the Seahawks' first-ranked run defense.

At 30, the seven-time Pro Bowler is focusing on winning a championship after reaching every other accomplishment possible in the NFL.

"Any sport that you play, you want to get that gold medal, you want to win that basketball title, the World Series, you want to win," Peterson told Ben Goessling of ESPN on Wednesday. "It's all about winning a championship, any sport you play. It's not about going out there and breaking every record, and you're happy and you can settle with that. It would definitely be unfulfilling.
