Titans' Mularkey: Too early to know about Mariota's Week 16 status

Marcus Mariota's knee injury isn't considered serious, but Tennessee Titans interim head coach Mike Mularkey said it's too early to know what the rookie quarterback's Week 16 status will be.

Mariota injured his right knee in the second quarter of Sunday's loss to the New England Patriots and was held out the rest of the game.

"I don't think it's serious," Mularkey said afterwards. "… We thought the best thing was to hold him (out).

"I know he wanted to play, but it was our decision. We'll have him evaluated and see where he's at with it."

Mularkey placed some of the blame for Mariota's injury on running back Antonio Andrews, noting that he missed a blocking assignment on the play that "never should have happened."

Mariota completed 3-of-6 passes for 32 yards, while Zach Mettenberger went 20-of-28 for 242 yards with two touchdowns and a pair of interceptions in relief.
