Philip Rivers made NFL history on two separate occasions in Sunday's win over the Jacksonville Jaguars.

First, with a 23-yard pass to wide receiver Dontrelle Inman late in the second quarter, the San Diego Chargers quarterback became the 17th player in NFL history to eclipse the 40,000-yard plateau.

Rivers became the fourth-fastest to reach the mark, in 159 career games. Only Drew Brees, Dan Marino, and Peyton Manning achieved the milestone earlier in their careers, according to Eric D. Williams of ESPN.

Rivers also made a significant move up the all-time touchdown list, adding four on the day for a total of 275.

The third score saw him move past Joe Montana for 12th, and the fourth brought him into a tie with Vinny Testaverde for 11th.
