Andrew Luck 'very confident' about returning in 2015

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck has no doubt he'll return to action this season, as he's been sidelined with a lacerated kidney and torn abdominal muscle.

Luck was held out of Sunday's game against the Atlanta Falcons and missed three games this season with myriad ailments. The Colts star was designated to miss two-to-six weeks Nov. 10 after suffering the abdominal injury.

"Yeah, very confident. Very confident I'll be able to return," Luck said, according to FOX59's Mike Chappell.

Although Luck expressed he's optimistic in his return, he said he'd defer to his doctors' opinion.

"I'm going to defer to doctors," Luck said via ESPN's Mike Wells. "As athletes we do know our bodies very well. I think there are certain things that are non-negotiable. As I understand, an organ healing is non-negotiable. ... You don't want to look too far ahead and miss a day of a chance to get better. Trying to take it day by day and make each day the best day."

Matt Hasselbeck is 3-0 in Luck's absence.

Luck took fault for his kidney injury, which resulted due to his hesitancy to slide when running outside of the pocket.

"Part of me brought it upon myself by not sliding in certain situations," Luck said. "There's a time and place to taking a hit. I'm not going to apologize in that sense. Sometimes I feel it is appropriate. Sliding is something I still need to improve on. It's no secret."
