Interim coach Dan Campbell indicated Wednesday that he believes Ajayi has earned more carries in the wake of the rookie running back's season debut in Week 9, the Miami Herald's Armando Salguero reports.

Analysis:

While Ajayi is not an immediate threat to supplant starter Lamar Miller, he figures to see his share of touches in the Miami offense in the coming weeks after carrying the ball five times for 41 yards in this past Sunday's loss to the Bills. Aside from a season-high 19 carries in Week 6, Miller has not recorded more than 14 carries in any of the other seven games he's seen action in this season. In any case, the Dolphins' confidence in Ajayi as a complement/backup to Miller was demonstrated by the team's recent release of Jonas Gray, a situation that makes the fifth-rounder out of Boise State worthy of consideration for those with a roster spot to spare.
