Dolphins place Cameron Wake on IR

The Miami Dolphins officially ended defensive end Cameron Wake's season, with the team placing him on season-ending injured reserve Saturday.

Wake suffered a torn Achilles tendon in the loss to the New England Patriots on Thursday night, with the team announcing Friday that he will miss the rest of the season.

The defensive end was in spectacular form before the injury, racking up seven sacks in his last three games.

The loss of Wake will create a huge hole in the Dolphins' pass rush, as the 33-year-old was responsible for over half the team's sacks this season.

The Dolphins signed offensive lineman Ulrick John from the Indianapolis Colts' practice squad to fill Wake's open roster spot.

John, a seventh-round pick by the Colts in the 2014 draft, missed his rookie season with a broken leg.
