The Miami Dolphins made Ndamukong Suh the highest-paid defensive player in NFL history when they signed him to a six-year, $114-million contract. So far, Suh has yet to live up to expectations.

Dolphins executive vice president of football operations Mike Tannenbaum acknowledged Tuesday during an appearance on 640 AM-WMEN that Suh has struggled through his first four games of the season, but was quick to look to the bigger picture.

"Let's be fair. We signed him to a six-year contract, so we're four games into a six-year contract," Tannenbaum said. "He hasn't played as well as we hoped, we haven't played as well as we hoped. I think we have to give it a grade of incomplete."

Tannenbaum also admitted that the team may not be as good as he initially believed.

"Of course," he said. "You have to look at everything. We have to, as an organization, be better across the board. I think that's totally fair. Candidly, the teams that, in my opinion, are the most successful in the legaue, year-in and year-out, are the ones that corectly evaluate their own. Those are things we're going to keep looking at."

The Dolphins will look to get back on track when they face the Tennessee Titans on Sunday.
