Andrew Luck inactive, Vontae Davis active Thursday night vs. Texans

Christopher Hanewinckel / USA TODAY Sports

Indianapolis Colts quarterback Andrew Luck is inactive for the second straight game on Thursday as he recovers from a shoulder injury.

Cornerback Vontae Davis, who is dealing with a foot injury, will play.

Veteran Matt Hasselbeck will get the start at quarterback against the Houston Texans but is dealing with an illness that hospitalized him until Tuesday morning.

Recently signed quarterback Josh Johnson will serve as Hasselbeck's backup after being re-signed by the team on Wednesday.

With the quarterback situation in a state of flux, the Colts are lucky to have key defenders Davis and defensive tackle Henry Anderson in the lineup. Both are fighting through injuries.

Linebacker Jerrell Freeman was ruled out on Wednesday with a groin injury.

Here are the rest of the Colts' inactives:

RB Tyler Varga, G Lance Louis, DT T.Y. McGill, OT Denzelle Good, LB Bjoern Werner
