Roethlisberger jokes about Steelers' lack of RB depth: 'We'll just go empty'

Ben Roethlisberger isn't losing any sleep over the fact his Pittsburgh Steelers appear set to enter the season with only two running backs on the active roster.

Asked if he's concerned about the Steelers' offense with star running back Le'Veon Bell suspended for two games and only DeAngelo Williams and Dri Archer on the active roster, Roethlisberger had a cheeky answer.

"No. We'll just go empty (backfield)," Roethlisberger said, according to NFL Network's Aditi Kinkhabwala.

He might not be joking.

The 2015 Steelers don't exactly resemble the ground-and-pound Steelers teams of years and generations past. This year's edition is well-suited to spread defenses out and beat them via the aerial attack.

Even with Bell on the field for all 16 games last season and the Steelers' ground attack humming, Roethlisberger still managed to throw for an NFL-best 4,952 yards.

With Bell sidelined for two games, Roethlisberger could kickstart a bountiful passing campaign that some believe will leave him in the running for MVP honors.
