The Oakland Raiders are expected to cut quarterback Christian Ponder, according to ESPN's Adam Caplan.

Ponder was selected in the first round of the 2011 NFL Draft by the Minnesota Vikings, but was not retained by the team at the end of the 2014 season.

Oakland signed him in March.

Ponder started one game last season, throwing zero touchdowns and two interceptions. His future with the Vikings was dire to begin with, as Teddy Bridgewater took over the starting role permanently.
