The Pittsburgh Steelers hosted veteran defensive tackle Phil Taylor on a free-agent visit Wednesday, according to Mike Florio of Pro Football Talk.

Taylor, a first-round pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, hit the open market after being released by the division-rival Cleveland Browns on Tuesday.

Injury issues forced Taylor to miss 20 games over the three seasons that followed his strong rookie year, but he remains an impact player when he's able to stay on the field.

If signed, Taylor would almost certainly step in as the starting nose tackle on Pittsburgh's three-man defensive front. Given the substantial interest he's likely received after becoming a free agent, however, he may opt to take a number of visits before making a decision.
