The Arizona Cardinals allowed Larry Foote to put off his retirement decision until the first wave of roster cutdowns earlier this week, and the veteran linebacker has now officially decided to call it a career.

After taking on a role as an inside linebackers coach with the Cardinals this spring, Foote told ESPN's Josh Weinfuss on Wednesday that he'll remain in that position heading into the 2015 season.

Foote joined the Cardinals as a free-agent signing in 2014, filling a pressing need at inside linebacker and starting 15 regular-season games for one of the league's top defenses.

Aside from a one-year stint with the Detroit Lions in 2009, he spent 11 of the 12 years prior as a steady presence at linebacker for the Pittsburgh Steelers.

Foote ends his playing career having appeared in 187 regular-season games and contributed to two Super Bowl-winning teams.
