Tom Brady jokes about 'Deflategate': 'It's been such an enjoyable offseason'

Tom Brady hasn't lost his sense of humor despite the soul-crushing (and seemingly never-ending) saga that is "Deflategate."

Asked what he did to celebrate the Patriots' Super Bowl XLIX victory at a charity gala Tuesday, Brady offered this cheeky response:

"Yeah, it's been such an enjoyable offseason."

The answer prompted laughter from those in attendance, as a video on ESPN.com shows.

Owner Robert Kraft took a more serious angle on the topic, calling the scandal the "most overblown story in recent NFL history" and giving his team credit for "ignoring the noise."

As divisive as "Deflategate" has been among NFL fans, and as enraging as it's been for Patriots devotees, it appears the Patriots themselves have taken a characteristically cool, measured approach to the matter.

Of course, that doesn't mean Brady isn't burning with fire behind his calm facade. He came out blazing on the field after the infamous "Spygate" scandal of 2007. He could be poised to torch opposing defenses again this season - whether his campaign begins in Week 1 or Week 5.
