Lions place Haloti Ngata on non-football injury list with reported hamstring strain

Tommy Gilligan / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions placed defensive tackle Haloti Ngata on the non-football injury list ahead of the start of training camp Monday.

No reason was given for Ngata's inclusion on the list, but NFL Network's Ian Rapoport reports it's related to a minor hamstring injury.

Ngata is eligible to be activated to the active roster at any time.

The Lions acquired the 31-year-old Ngata from the Baltimore Ravens via trade moments before the start of free agency in March. Ngata is expected to help fill the literal and figurative void left by former Lions defensive tackle Ndamukong Suh.
