Chip Kelly: 'Mychal Kendricks is not going anywhere'

Philadelphia Eagles head coach Chip Kelly wants to make it clear that he won't be trading every asset on the team's defense.

Though it's been rumored since the end of last season, Kelly said Sunday that linebacker Mychal Kendricks won't be dealt.

"Mike Kendricks is not going anywhere. I can tell you that right now," Kelly said, according to Les Bowen of the Philadelphia Daily News. "You can write that down in ink, not pencil. Mike's not going anywhere."

The Eagles are loaded at inside linebacker, with Kiko Alonso, DeMeco Ryans, and Kendricks vying for two starting jobs. For now, they'll continue to rotate through.

Despite the rumors of his trade, Kendricks says he wasn't concerned about being moved because Kelly had assured Kendricks he'd be an Eagle in 2015.

"He told me. I'm here, man," Kendricks said. "I was always relaxed. In this league, you really can control only what you can control, that was my mindset going into it. I wasn't really worried about it at any point, but I'm glad to be here."

Kendricks has been steadily improving over the last two seasons, and could fit in better as a mike linebacker in a 4-3 scheme. He will become a free agent at the end of this season.
