Seahawks' Bobby Wagner on Russell Wilson deal: 'Can't keep everyone'

Not everyone is happy about the Seattle Seahawks' four-year extension for quarterback Russell Wilson.

Linebacker Bobby Wagner, one of the NFL's premier defenders but also a player whose ability to earn a raise from the Seahawks may have been negatively impacted by Wilson's new contract, took to Twitter on Friday to make his feelings known:

Wagner's right. In a salary cap world, teams rarely have the luxury of keeping all their best players.

That said, it's possible the Seahawks can find a way to fit Wagner in despite their large financial commitments to players like Wilson, safety Earl Thomas, cornerback Richard Sherman, running back Marshawn Lynch, and tight end Jimmy Graham. General manager John Schneider has proven to be a bit of a wizard when it comes to finding and retaining talent.

Wagner added later in the day that he considered joining Kam Chancellor by holding out, and saying he wants a deal done now. However, he also cleared up any controversy where Wilson is concerned.
