NFL's Thursday games to feature color vs. color uniforms

The NFL is pulling out all the stops to make its frequently dull Thursday night games more appealing.

This year, that includes eschewing the NFL's standard colored jersey vs. white jersey model and instead offering fans the chance to see color vs. color games.

Color vs. color is rare, though not unprecedented, in NFL history. The Dallas Cowboys and Kansas City Chiefs both wore colored throwback uniforms when they squared off in 2009:

And the New England Patriots and Detroit Lions wore colored throwbacks on Thanksgiving, 2010:

It's unclear if every Thursday game in 2015 will feature color vs. color. If so, it will force some teams to wear their alternate/throwback uniforms. An orange vs. red battle in Week 1 (Broncos at Chiefs) would prove problematic, as would a blue vs. navy blue matchup in Week 4 (Colts at Texans).
