Giants' Prince Amukamara: Victor Cruz looks faster after knee injury rehab

Andrew Weber / USA TODAY Sports

New York Giants cornerback Prince Amukamara said receiver Victor Cruz looks like he has gotten faster since suffering a torn patellar tendon, NJ.com reports.

"I trained with Cruz for one day down in Arizona ‐ and he just came in for a day because he was in town ‐ and I'm telling you, this guy looked fab... I'm telling you," said Amukamara. "Remember that I said this. This guy looks faster now than he did before."

This one comes with more than a grain of salt, as Amukamara's interview was overly optimistic across the board -- he predicted that he'd finish the season with double-digit interceptions and a championship.

Cruz expects to be ready for the start of training camp later this week, but it remains to be seen how/if his explosiveness has been affected by the major knee injury. He'll also have to adjust to playing second fiddle to Odell Beckham Jr., after mostly serving as Eli Manning's primary target to this point in his career. Cruz did not participate in team drills at OTAs or minicamp.
