Cowboys' Stephen Jones says league still has 'some work to do' on catch rule

Former NFL official Mike Pereira revealed the league's new wording for the rules of a catch on Thursday, but not everybody was satisfied.

Dallas Cowboys vice president Stephen Jones told Talk of Fame Network that there is still work to be done.

"You can say they clarified it somewhat," Jones said via The Dallas Morning News. "Until we figure out as a committee how to write it; especially these really special athletes like Calvin Johnson, a player like Dez Bryant that can make these super human type of acrobatic catches, until we account for that, we're going to continue to have these issues."

If any team wants it addressed, it's the Cowboys. Bryant's impressive grab that was ruled incomplete against the Green Bay Packers this past postseason, eliminated Dallas from the playoffs. Jones himself conceded recently that the ruling was correct based on the wording, but he may soon be proposing a change.

"I do think it's on us," Jones said. "Coach (Jason) Garrett and I actually spent some time after the NFL owners meetings ... we've really been talking about ways of maybe putting something together for the competition committee to look at because there are a lot of plays that the rule catches.

"In my mind, we still got some work to do."
