Jerry Jones wanted to practice with Rams because they have 'good flavor' in L.A.

Jerry Jones has facilitated a reunion of sorts between the St. Louis Rams and Los Angeles, inviting the team to practice with his Dallas Cowboys in nearby Oxnard, Calif. in August.

With rumors swirling about the NFL returning to L.A. in the near future, the Cowboys owner was asked if the upcoming practice sessions could serve as a test run for the Rams potentially moving back to the city.

"With the initial focus groups and the initial looksies, the Rams are a very popular team in Southern California," Jones said, via Jon Machota of The Dallas Morning News. "And so one of the reasons that it was attractive to us to work against them is because they have that good flavor.

"It is certainly not a reach at all to say that fans remember the Los Angeles Rams. So that makes them a good partner to practice with in the Los Angeles area."

L.A. has not had an NFL franchise since the Rams and Oakland Raiders left in 1995. Both teams, along with the San Diego Chargers, are believed to be the most likely candidates to return to the city.

The joint practices between the Cowboys and Rams are scheduled for Aug. 17-18.
