Cowboys' Dez Bryant attends OTAs despite not signing franchise tender

Dallas Cowboys star wide receiver Dez Bryant attended OTAs Thursday in spite of his refusal to sign a $12.8 million franchise tender.

Bryant recorded 88 receptions for 1,320 yards and a league-high 16 receiving touchdowns last season, and after three consecutive seasons with over 1,300 yards, Bryant is seeking a long-term extension with the Cowboys ahead of the July 15 franchise tag deadline.

If the two parties can't reach a deal before July 15, Bryant will play the 2015 season for $12.8 million and will become an unrestricted free agent in the spring of 2016.

"Obviously, he's working on the business part of his contract, working through this franchise-player tag," Cowboys head coach Jason Garrett said Wednesday to Charean Williams of the Fort Worth Star-Telegram. "We've been in communication with him; he's been in communication with his teammates. He seems to be in great shape whenever we've seen him, but he has not been here."

Bryant is an imperative component of the Cowboys' star-studded offense as the franchise sets its sights on the Super Bowl. However, if Bryant can't reach a long-term deal, it's likely the enigmatic wide receiver is playing his final season with America's Team.
