Report: Lions meeting with defensive lineman Mike Patterson

Brad Penner / USA TODAY Sports

The Detroit Lions are meeting with veteran defensive lineman Mike Patterson, according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Patterson has spent the past two seasons with the New York Giants after playing the first eight years of his career with the Philadelphia Eagles. He will turn 32 in September.

The Lions are looking to reunite defensive line coach Jim Washburn and Patterson after the two spent several productive years together in Philadelphia. After the departure of Ndamukong Suh, C.J. Mosely, and Nick Fairley, the Lions are in need of veteran depth along the line.

In 2014, Patterson started eight games and tallied 27 tackles.
