Chargers' Darrell Stuckey not keen on giving up No. 25 to Melvin Gordon

San Diego Chargers running back Melvin Gordon is having a difficult time convincing special teams captain Darrell Stuckey to give up his No. 25.

Gordon, the Chargers' first-round pick, wore No. 25 in high school and throughout his college career at Wisconsin, but had to settle on No. 28 in San Diego. He's not ready to concede defeat just yet, though.

"Good dude, but I'm not going to give up," Gordon told Tom Krasovic of U-T San Diego with a smile.

Stuckey, meanwhile, kept a straight face when asked if he and Gordon have discussed swapping numbers.

"I'm 25," he said.

Gordon said it will be "an adjustment" moving to a new number, but he respects Stuckey for sticking with No. 25.

"It is what it is," Gordon said. "I’ve just got (to) make something happen with 28."
