Report: Cowboys sign former 1st-round pick A.J. Jenkins
Following a tryout with the Dallas Cowboys last week, A.J. Jenkins has earned himself another opportunity to break camp with an NFL team.
The Cowboys are reportedly adding the wide receiver to their roster as the club gets ready to start another week of OTAs, according to Clarence Hill Jr. of the Star-Telegram.
Selected in the first round of the 2012 draft by the San Francisco 49ers, Jenkins, now three years into his NFL career, has failed to live up to expectations.
The wide receiver was traded to the Kansas City Chiefs after a disappointing rookie year in which he was held without a reception, only to record 17 catches for 223 yards over the next two seasons combined.
Despite his struggles, the intriguing ability that once made him an early-round prospect will afford him the opportunity to compete for a roster spot in training camp with Dallas this summer.
