Cowboys, Orlando Scandrick agree to 1-year, $9.5M extension

The Dallas Cowboys and cornerback Orlando Scandrick have agreed to terms on a one-year contract extension.

The deal will reportedly tack on $9.5 million to Scandrick's existing contract, giving him $20 million over the next five years.

Scandrick recently reported to voluntary team workouts after a brief "holdout." It seems the Cowboys appreciated his show of good faith.

Though Scandrick had four years remaining on his contract prior to renegotiating, he had a strong case for being underpaid. The 28-year old was set to earn a mere $1.5 million in 2015 and is one of his team's best defensive players.

Scandrick is expected to man one of the Cowboys' starting cornerback spots this season, with first-round pick Byron Jones competing with veterans Brandon Carr and Morris Claiborne to play on the other side.
