New offensive coordinator Adam Gase expressed enthusiasm after the Bears' recent rookie minicamp about working with Cutler this season, ESPN Chicago's Jeff Dickerson reports. "I feel comfortable with [Cutler]. I mean, we have a good relationship so far and we're just going to keep working to get better," Gase said.

Analysis:

Gase is Cutler's fifth offensive coordinator in seven years, but the preexisting familiarity between the two could lead to a fruitful partnership. Cutler's stint with the Broncos partially overlapped with Gase's time as the team's receivers coach, and though the quarterback left Denver on poor terms, it doesn't appear he had any discontent with Gase. Since Cutler's departure from Denver, Gase's reputation as an offensive savant only grew, as he oversaw record-setting production by Peyton Manning in 2013 and earned plenty of consideration for head-coaching jobs after the season. While Cutler won't be held to the same lofty standard as Manning, his strong arm and mobility at least provides Gase with a nice canvas to work with. And for all the drama that surrounded Cutler during the Bears' 5-11 season, he still established career-best marks in touchdown passes (28) and completion percentage (66.0%).
