Bills' EJ Manuel gets support from Jim Kelly

EJ Manuel's future in Buffalo appears far from secure heading into organized team activities, but the third-year quarterback has the support of one Buffalo Bills legend.

Hall of Famer Jim Kelly said he believes Manuel "has it all" during an appearance on NFL Network's "Total Access," and also mentioned that Manuel could benefit from playing under new offensive coordinator Greg Roman. However, Kelly also noted the Bills will need to part with the 2013 first-round pick if he fails to deliver on the field.

"(Manuel) knows he's got to get it done on the field," Kelly said. "Now he's got competition with Matt Cassel coming in who has a very, very strong arm. It's a new system, for both of them, it's a learning experience for both of them. We'll see what happens.

"But that is one key position that - I don't care if you're Vince Lombardi, Don Shula whoever it may be - if you don't have a guy under center that can get the job done week in and week out, they're not going anywhere."

Kelly's comments come on the heels of a report by Joe Buscaglia of WKBW Buffalo that the Bills could cut Manuel this offseason if he doesn't make significant progress.

Manuel has gone 6-8 in 14 career starts with the Bills, throwing for 2,810 yards, 16 touchdowns and 12 interceptions.
