Falcons head coach Dan Quinn believes Alford (wrist) could transition to safety, but the team does not plan to make any such move, ESPN.com reports.

Analysis:

The Falcons have Desmond Trufant at one cornerback spot and William Moore at strong safety, but the rest of the secondary will likely be open for competition. While he's the favorite to start across from Trufant, Alford could face competition from second-round rookie Jalen Collins (foot). If Collins ends up winning the job, Alford will likely work as the Falcons' nickelback. The wrist injury that landed Alford on injured reserve in December seems to be a non-issue.
