Falcons sign former Redskins tackle Tyler Polumbus

ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Falcons have added a possible new starter to their offensive line by signing former Redskins tackle Tyler Polumbus.

The 6-foot-8, 308-pound Polumbus started 42 of his 47 games during four years with the Redskins. He also has played with Denver and Seattle.

Polumbus will rejoin former Redskins offensive coordinator Kyle Shanahan, who now holds the same job in Atlanta under new coach Dan Quinn. Polumbus worked out for the Falcons on Tuesday.

The Falcons have Jake Matthews returning at left tackle and currently list Ryan Schrader as their starting right tackle. Polumbus is expected to compete with Schrader and Sam Baker for a starting job.

Polumbus originally signed with Denver as an undrafted free agent from Colorado in 2008. He spent two years with the Broncos.
