Lions sign Corey Wootton

The Detroit Lions have signed defensive lineman Corey Wootton to a one-year contract, according to his agent, Mike McCartney.

Wootton is familiar with the Lions, having spent time with division rivals - last season with the Minnesota Vikings and the previous four with the Chicago Bears.

He's lined up at both defensive end and defensive tackle, which should help Detroit mitigate the departures of Ndamukong Suh, Nick Fairley and George Johnson.

The 27-year-old has 86 tackles, 12 sacks and three forced fumbles in 60 career games.
