Coming off arguably the most electrifying rookie year a wide receiver has put together since Randy Moss' debut season with the Minnesota Vikings, Odell Beckham Jr. has quickly established himself as one of football's most recognizable names both on and off the field.

That superstar trajectory only continued Wednesday, as the New York Giants receiver was officially named the Madden 16 cover athlete.

Beckham edged out New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski in the final fan vote and, at just 22 years old, he becomes the youngest player to appear on the cover in the history of the Madden franchise.

While Gronkowski can certainly be considered a fan favorite in the football world, this contest may well have been wrapped up the second Beckham stretched out to haul in one of the most incredible catches the sport has ever seen against the division-rival Dallas Cowboys on Sunday Night Football.

Beckham would go on to finish his rookie year with an impressive 91 receptions for 1,305 yards and 12 touchdowns despite missing the first four games of the regular season, earning the AP NFL Offensive Rookie of the Year Award and a trip to the Pro Bowl.

With the official announcement of Beckham as the cover athlete, EA Sports released its first-look trailer for this year's game, which will hit stores August 25:
