The Arizona Cardinals bolstered their inside linebacker position Wednesday, signing veteran Darryl Sharpton to a one-year contract.

Sharpton spent the first four years of his NFL career with the Houston Texans, who selected him in the fourth round of the 2010 draft. He appeared in five games for the Chicago Bears last season before landing on injured reserve with a hamstring injury.

The 27-year-old has 176 tackles, one sack and an interception in 47 career games.

In a corresponding move, the team released safety Eddie Whitley.
