3-Wide: Will Tim Tebow make the Eagles' 53-man roster?

3-Wide is a weekly feature in which theScore's NFL editors debate the hot topics around the league. Grab a cold towel and brace for hot takes.

Will Tim Tebow make the Eagles' 53-man roster?

David P. Woods: Yes, but not because of his skills as a passer. Tebow scored 57 rushing touchdowns at Florida, many from short yardage. Look for Chip Kelly to bring a CFL innovation to the NFL and carry a backup quarterback on his roster to use as a short-yardage specialist. Tebow can plunge for first downs on third-and-short and perhaps even be used on two-point convert attempts – especially if the NFL moves them up from the 2-yard line to the 1, as is rumored.

Dan Wilkins: No. There may be some talk about Tebow making some much-needed improvements of late, but what can a quarterback really do in two years away from the game that will prepare him for what he'll see on the field? Tebow wasn't able to find a team to this point for no other reason than his skill set simply not fitting at the pro level. He'll always be a recognizable name, but there's no reason to think that he will challenge for a roster spot among a crowded Eagles quarterback group, let alone in the NFL.

Joe Thomson: Yes. The Chip Kelly vanity project continues and nothing will stroke his ego like being able to say he's the guy who found a use for the previously unusable Tebow. Tebow will most likely serve as the team's third quarterback, wacky play specialist and prayer leader.

Which team is most likely to make an unconventional move on Day 1 of the draft?

Thomson: The Atlanta Falcons. There's been a lot of talk about Todd Gurley not escaping the top-10 and I think the Falcons are the team that takes him. Everyone is sure that they'll take a pass rusher with the eighth overall pick, shoring up Dan Quinn's defense, but I think they'll fall in love with keeping Gurley in Georgia and upgrading a position that was once a strength in their offense. Drafting Gurley may help stop the erosion of Matt Ryan's reputation as a good quarterback.

Woods: Last year's wide receiver class produced nearly a dozen impact players, including emerging mega-studs Odell Beckham Jr. and Mike Evans. This year's class is considered by many to be almost as good. It shouldn't shock anyone to see wideouts fly off the board early and often. If the Titans can't trade back from No. 2, Amari Cooper and Kevin White are both realistic candidates to be picked.

Wilkins: The most significant move of this draft will almost certainly be a team trading up to somewhere within the top five selections and selecting Oregon quarterback Marcus Mariota, and the Cleveland Browns' two first-round picks puts them in the best position to pursue such a deal. Cleveland may have used first-round selections on quarterbacks in two of the past three years, making it somewhat of a tough sell this time around, but this would be an opportunity the club can't afford to pass up.

What game are you most looking forward to on the 2015 NFL schedule?

Wilkins: An early rematch of the NFC Championship, and quite possibly a preview of another still to come in January, one of this year's best matchups will come on Sunday Night Football in Week 2 when the Green Bay Packers host the Seattle Seahawks. With the Packers fielding one of the NFL's most explosive offenses, the Seahawks returning a dominant defense and plenty of star power to go around, this is the kind of game that the prime-time slot was made for.

Thomson: Lions-Seahawks, Week 4. This will be a make or break game for a Lions team that has four prime-time games this season. The Lions will be coming off a Sunday night game against the Broncos and forced to travel to the West Coast to play in the league's most unfriendly confines. This could be an early season must-win for the Lions, as avoiding the dreaded 1-3 start will be likely motivation. There is a strong chance they are exposed as pretenders and sent back into the non-prime-time wilderness, where they've resided for the past 10 years.

Woods: Patriots-Steelers in Week 1. The return of football that matters. It's not a sexy answer, but it's an honest one.
