Cowboys unlikely to trade draft picks for Adrian Peterson

Dallas Cowboys executive vice president Stephen Jones doesn't believe the team will trade draft picks in exchange for Adrian Peterson.

"I don't see us using any picks to trade for veteran players," Jones told 105.3 in Dallas when asked about a potential deal for Peterson.

Peterson has been linked to the Cowboys ever since talk of his reinstatement began. Now, with a handful of teams reportedly interested in acquiring the six-time Pro Bowler, the Cowboys appear to be pulling back.

In addition to all but ruling out a trade for Peterson, Jones addressed Dez Bryant's contract situation, saying, "You have to be patient. Our number one goal is still to get him signed long term."

The Cowboys used their franchise tag on Bryant at the beginning of free agency, ensuring that he'll be in Dallas for at least one more season. Cowboys brass has consistently said signing Bryant to a long-term deal is in the plans.
