Draft Needs: AFC East

Joshua S. Kelly / Reuters

The AFC East was completely revamped after the Buffalo Bills, Miami Dolphins and New York Jets all made aggressive moves in free agency, in hopes of catching the incumbent Super Bowl-champion New England Patriots.

With the NFL draft rapidly approaching, theScore breaks down who every AFC East team ought to target.

New England Patriots

Positions of need: Wide receiver, cornerback

The Super Bowl champions lost their starting cornerback duo of Darrelle Revis and Brandon Browner, while Kyle Arrington and Logan Ryan are slated to take over. Arrington played in less than half of the Patriots' defensive snaps last season and Ryan is inconsistent in coverage.

Julian Edelman put together a series of star performances in the Patriots' Super Bowl run, but Brandon LaFell and the rest of the group could be upgraded. The Patriots may be able to find a bona fide star in this year's class to give Tom Brady another lethal weapon.

Potential draft targets: Wake Forest's Kevin Johnson may be available when the Patriots select at 32, and he's been rising up many draft boards. Some believe he may be the best cornerback in this year's draft.

Oklahoma's Dorial Green-Beckham could be the best wide receiver talent in the draft, but there are concerns about his character. Bill Belichick could be the right man to keep him in line.

Buffalo Bills

Positions of need: Guard, offensive tackle, quarterback

Buffalo traded for LeSean McCoy in March, but the team won't be able to utilize the star running back effectively without building a competent offensive line. Eric Wood is an above-average center, but the team may have sported the worst guard combination in the NFL last year and should focus on going after run-blocking specialists.

It's unlikely that Buffalo will target a quarterback early, and would be wise to build its offensive line with its first selections. The Bills are without their first-round selection after trading it to select Sammy Watkins fourth overall in 2014.

Seantrel Henderson, a 2014 seventh-round pick, won the team's starting right tackle position, and Buffalo would be wise to draft someone late to challenge him for the job.

Potential draft targets: Duke's Laken Tomlinson would be an ideal fit for the Bills as a run-stopping guard, and will likely be available by the time they finally select at 50th overall. South Carolina's A.J. Cann may also fit the Bills' needs of a versatile run blocker.

Texas A&M's Cedric Ogbuehi is an intriguing prospect at offensive tackle, but Buffalo may be forced to pass due to a lingering ACL injury.

Miami Dolphins

Positions of need: Wide receiver, guard, cornerback

The Dolphins elected to trade Mike Wallace to the Minnesota Vikings in March and released Brian Hartline, creating a void at wide receiver. Jarvis Landry proved that he'd be an ideal No. 2 receiver, and Miami could put together a tandem for the next decade if they find a No. 1 in this year's draft.

Center Mike Pouncey played at right guard exclusively last season, but will switch back to his natural position for 2015. Miami's offensive line continued to struggle throughout the year, and the Dolphins need to drastically upgrade at guard. Dallas Thomas and Billy Turner are both replacement-level talents.

Potential draft targets: Much akin to the Bills, the Dolphins would be thrilled if Duke's Tomlinson comes off the board in the second round. The Dolphins could find a star wide receiver in the first round, especially if Alabama's Amari Cooper or Louisville's DeVante Parker falls to the 14th selection.

New York Jets

Positions of need: Inside linebacker, outside linebacker, quarterback

New York turned its glaring weakness into a major strength after reuniting cornerback tandem Darrelle Revis and Antonio Cromartie, while also adding Buster Skrine. The Jets' secondary is now among the best in the NFL along with their already outstanding defensive line.

The Jets will attempt to win games on the strength of their defense, but will need to improve their depth at both linebacker positions. Demario Davis is underrated, but David Harris may not have another good year left. There is also a significant drop-off in quality from their starters to their backups.

Calvin Pace is 34 and began to show signs of decline in the latter half of the 2014 campaign, and it's unclear if Quinton Coples will re-sign with the club in 2016. Although New York's 45 sacks were the sixth-best total in the NFL last season, most of them were generated through the team's front three.

Potential draft targets: If Marcus Mariota is still available when the Jets select at sixth overall, the team would be wise to snap up the signal-caller. Otherwise, they may have to wait another year for a QB.

Clemson's Vic Beasley and Kentucky's Bud Dupree are both excellent fits for the Jets at outside linebacker and the team's pass-rush would become the envy of 31 teams if they were to select either college standout.

TCU's Paul Dawson sports the potential to be the best inside linebacker in the class, and would be a great fit if he's still available in the second round.
